American Rescue Plan

The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 ("Rescue Plan") is designed to fuel the nation's recovery from the devastating economic and health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Funds allocated to New Mexico Arts via the National Endowment for the Arts ("Arts Endowment") in this historic legislation represent a significant commitment to the arts and recognition of the value of the arts and culture sector to the nation's economy and recovery.

New Mexico Arts will competitively award Rescue Plan funds to eligible organizations in New Mexico. The funds are intended to help support jobs in the arts sector, keep the doors open to arts organizations statewide, and assist the field in its response to and recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

New Mexico Arts intends to make awards that will impact a broad constituency. We encourage applications from eligible organizations including organizations that reach populations historically underserved by the arts due to ethnicity, economics, geography, or disability, etc.; organizations with small and medium-sized budgets; and organizations from rural and urban communities. We understand the financial needs of the field far outweigh available funds for the program and we anticipate making approximately 70 awards. Grants will not be awarded on a "first-come first-served basis."

NM ARP Application Deadline

All New Mexico Arts FY23 NM ARP applications must be submitted online through our FoundantGLM online system no later than 5:00 pm MST Friday, April 29. 2022.

FY2023 NM ARP Invoices

All FY23 NM ARP invoices and final reports will be prepared and submitted through our online grants management system. To submit your invoices, please use the same account you used to submit your application. Please do NOT create a new account. Please access your account here. When your FY23 NM ARP arts services contract is fully executed and a purchase order is approved, your organization's project director will be notified that FY23 NM ARP invoices are now available.

FY21 NM CARES

The Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act recognized that the nonprofit arts industry is an important sector of America's economy. Via the CARES Act, New Mexico Arts awarded funds to 42 nonprofit arts organizations across the state to help these entities and their employees endure the economic hardships caused by the forced closure of their operations due to the spread of COVID-19. These funds are intended to help support jobs in the arts sector and keep the doors open to the organizations that add value to our economy and the creative life of our communities.

This program is being carried out through one-time grants to eligible nonprofit organizations, units of government, schools, colleges, universities, and Indian tribal government entities with offices in New Mexico. The application process was highly competitive, peer reviewed, and awardees accepted by the New Mexico Arts Commission. Enough funding was available to fund only 32% of the total applicants.

New Mexico Arts made awards that impacted a broad constituency. This included a wide geographic range and organizations that serve underserved populations such as those whose opportunities to experience the arts are limited by geography, ethnicity, economics, or disability. One-third of the funding went to organizations based in rural communities.

FY2021 NM CARES Invoices

After your NM CARES arts services contract is fully executed and purchase order approved, your organization's project director will receive an email from the system letting him or her know that invoices are now available.
