Raton Arts and Humanities Council
Ray Wolf serves as the executive director of the Raton Arts and Humanities Council. He develops community awareness; budgets; supervises staff; works in advocacy; and manages performing arts, visual arts, and arts education programs. This includes the operation of a year-round community art gallery, the Shuler Theater, and arts education opportunities for both youth and adults.
Born in 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri, Wolf has known since grade school that art would be his passion. Being a self-taught artist, he has experimented with different techniques to achieve his distinctive style. After 36 years of selling art, he has discovered that abstract art is his new direction. His artwork is in numerous private, corporate, and public collections.
The Raton Arts & Humanities Council seeks to encourage and strengthen the cultural life of its area, providing residents, whether trained or untrained in the arts, with opportunities for artistic participation, self-expression, education and enjoyment. As the primary arts organization in its area it takes the lead on both arts programming and advocacy in Raton and the surrounding communities of Colfax and Union counties.
