Michelle Laflamme-Childs - AIPP Manager
Michelle Laflamme-Childs manages the 1% for Art in Public Places Program (AIPP) for New Mexico Arts, where she previously served as public art project coordinator. She joined New Mexico Arts in 2013 after many years of arts administration in the nonprofit sector and business experience in the corporate for-profit sector. She is thrilled to bring those skills to bear as a public servant for the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs.
A native of the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, Laflamme-Childs has called Santa Fe home for over 20 years. She is a poet and essayist, with one published chapbook and a book-length manuscript in the works. When not working with AIPP to make important and exciting contemporary art accessible to everyone in our community, Laflamme-Childs can be found spinning fresh beats on local radio station 98.1 Radio Free Santa Fe. As an appointed member of the Santa Fe County Arts, Culture, and Cultural Tourism Committee and core member of the Santa Fe based Cut+Paste Society, Laflamme-Childs is active in the arts as both an administrator and creative practitioner.
Laflamme-Childs holds a BA in English Literature from the University of Massachusetts, an MA from St. John's College in Santa Fe, and is very intermittently working on an MFA in Creative Writing at the University of Texas, El Paso.
