Keshet Dance Company

Lisa Nevada, a native New Mexican, began dancing at a young age. She became a student, volunteer, and performer at Keshet Dance Company in 1996, the year it was founded. She trains, rehearses, and performs as a key member of the Keshet Repertory Company and facilitates educational workshops. She works with the Artistic Director to plan and execute community and repertory rehearsals, and creates and executes outreach curriculum for various New Mexico communities. She has been the Rehearsal Director for Keshet’s well-known Nutcracker on the Rocks since 2005. Nevada has taught and performed with Keshet throughout New Mexico and the United States. She is working with Keshet on a new production based on the poetry of Pablo Neruda, with highlights to be performed in New York City and Scotland in 2010, and its New Mexico premiere in 2011.

Nevada received a B.A. in Dance from the University of New Mexico in 2002. Soon after, she was hired to teach the Modern I class at UNM from 2002-2003. She was a member of the Bill Evans Dance Company from 2002-2004, and has danced for Donna Jewell and Company on several occasions. Nevada is also a member of Ecotone Physical Theatre Company, and is a founding member of the Put Attention Dance Collective.
