Espanola Valley Fiber Arts Center
Diane Bowman is a lifelong artist and Executive Director of the Española Valley Fiber Arts Center (EVFAC). She administers a 500-member nonprofit, and is responsible for board liaison; planning, budgeting, and policy implementation; grant administration; program design, implementation, and evaluation; staff and contractor supervision; community collaborations; public outreach; and marketing. Bowman has worked in many positions at EVFAC including production weaving trainee, Artistic Manager, Interim Director, and in 2002, she became the Executive Director.
A New Mexico resident for the past 17 years, Bowman grew up with parents that practiced and enjoyed art, and began to draw and paint at an early age. She began selling her work at the age of 16. Bowman attended the University of Georgia, the University of Mississippi, and the University of Maine. In 1985, she received a B.A. in Psychology with a Minor in Art from the University of Maine, and did two years of graduate work in Human Development. Her varied background includes photography, graphic design, and illustration. She has also worked as a research assistant, grant writer, and crisis counselor. As an artist she has run a small business, been represented by several galleries, and accepted many commissions. Her artwork is in several private collections.
Española Valley Fiber Arts Center is the only full service community art center in northern New Mexico offering classes, supplies, equipment, business incubator services including technical and marketing assistance, studio space, and a variety of income opportunities for fiber artists.
