Chuck Zimmer oversees the state’s 1% for Art in Public Places Program (AIPP). Chuck created and implemented the newest AIPP program TIME (Temporary Installations Made for the Environment). He joined New Mexico Arts in 2002 as the AIPP Program Coordinator after moving to Santa Fe from Memphis, Tennessee. He has been AIPP Manager since 2008.
A recipient of a Pollock-Krasner Grant, his background includes an M.F.A. from Southern Illinois University and Bachelors degrees in anthropology, art history, and fine art from the State University of New York at Potsdam. A native of New York, Chuck spends many hours in his studio as a working artist. His work is currently in galleries in Santa Fe and Silver City. His experience includes teaching fine arts at the university level and extensive involvement in community theatre as a set designer and as a director.
